Create Your Own Princess Bedroom Theme in 4 Easy Steps

!±8± Create Your Own Princess Bedroom Theme in 4 Easy Steps

All little girls dream about being a princess and perhaps your daughter is dreaming of a magical bedroom that will make all of her little friends jealous. She's wanting something unique, that no one else has, and you're wondering how on earth to give her what she wants without resorting to the predictable themed bedding available on the market. Well, it's time to get crafty and create your own princess bedroom theme.

Step 1: Wall Color

Think outside the box when selecting a new paint color for your daughter's room. Sure you could go with pink, but everybody else has already done that. Why not look at minty greens, pale lavenders, or a deeper pink. If you are really creative, let it show by masking off stripes with painting tape and using each of these colors.

Step 2: Furniture

Depending upon the age of your daughter, you can reuse the furniture already in her room. Give it a fresh coat of white paint, or for the more daring, a shimmering coat of silver. You can design a custom headboard by printing out a clipart picture of a crown and taking it to a copy shop to have it enlarged to a workable size. Use that as your template to cut her new headboard out of plywood and attach it to the bed. For added sparkle, purchase cheap rhinestones or plastic jewels from a craft store and glue them to the furniture.

Step 3: Bedding

The bedding for your princess bedroom theme can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. Of course satin-like fabrics and lace fit right in, but for small little girls this may not be a practical choice. Even simple solid bedding can be transformed with a few tassels or fancy edging. Use heat tape to save yourself some sewing. Also, an inexpensive tulle canopy adds an instant royal touch that can be improved upon further with a few more of the jewels that you used on the furniture. Hint1: A bejeweled window scarf works well to compliment the furniture and canopy, and also looks great surrounding a doorway. Hint 2: A plain bed skirt can be given the royal touch with a few more jewels scattered over it.

Step 4: Accessories

Get creative with the accessories for this theme! Why not take a pair of high heels that have seen better days and give them a spray of silver glitter paint? Add a small piece of florist foam and insert gift bows and ribbons attached to floral picks and you have a very unique accent piece (preferably placed out of reach). A fuzzy rug and accent pillow and you're done!

Follow these steps to create a princess bedroom theme for your daughter that no one else will have. Let her help with the project and you will not only create a beautiful bedroom, but beautiful memories with your little princess that will last forever.

Decorating a Princess Bedroom

!±8± Decorating a Princess Bedroom

Some girls want to be Princesses, so a bedroom decorated in a Princess theme is a good idea for a little girl. Most little girls watch movies like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, so they want to be a little Princess themselves. Any themed room can be made to look distinctive with suitable matching room furnishings. Here are a few ideas to decorate a little girl's bedroom into the Princess theme room.

First of all, decide on which colors you will need. Royal colors look best for this kind of bedroom. While most girls like colors such as pink and white, for this theme, royal colors like deep blue and deep mauves are best. Use white to contrast the room. It will brighten it up more.

For the bed, choose one that will be fit for a Princess. A bed with a canopy works best with this theme. Use satin covers in pink or lilac and decorate the bed with cushions in white or gold colors or even velvet red cushions. Perhaps, buy material that has gold through it and is silky and soft, so that you can cover the cushions with it or even use it to decorate the room, so it gives it a special coordination to the rest of the bedroom. Rich fabrics such as satin and velvet used throughout the room will make it look great.

For the windows, use matching silk curtains to go with the bed. Use lace as tie backs, which will look good and give the room a royal look. Use lace liberally around the room. Place it on furniture for decoration.

If you are artistic, then have white furniture in the room, such as, a dressing table for your little Princess and paint the edges with gold paint. Gold is a royal color that can help to make it all real for that special little Princess.

For the floor, use patterned gold rugs. Area rugs can be placed on either side of the bed. If there is carpet in the room already and in good condition and it is a royal color, then you can leave it there and just decorate it with area rugs. Perhaps, some fluffy circular gold rugs would be effective. If there is wood flooring, then even better.

Invest in a bookcase, table and a rocking Princess chair. Place a gold rug under the rocking Princess chair to give the whole idea an effect. This furniture can be found in toy shops, which are designed to look like royalty pieces. The royalty color is purple; so many items can be found in lavender and purple shades. Also, a luxury Princess tuffet would look effective in the room on a royal rug in either gold patterned rug or a red rug. Next to the bed there can be a cabinet with a Princess slipper lamp on it. This can be found in toy shops. Place a red area rug under this for a great effect.

On the dressing table place hearts, a crown and gold comb and brushes for beautiful Princess hair. The stool at the dressing should be a Princess royal stool, which can be purchased in toy shops. The fancier, the better, as everything designed should befit a daughter of a queen and king.

[Eng Sub] Kagamine Rin - I Want to be a Princess! (おひめさまになりたいのッ!)

Author's Comment: Merry Christmas! W-What? I've taken a step closer to a pork saute in a crapulence at Christmas. By the way I want to be a princess. - I present that ideal and the vain reality against the bouncy samba fitting the season (only in the south hemisphere). - I bought a samba whistle at Shibuya and recorded it live!! My neighbors, sorry about it! - The absolutely cute video made by Niboshi for me! Thank you very much! Original by OSTER Project (Fuwacina), Movie by にぼし (Niboshi) aka あたたたP (Atatata P) on Niconico From www.nicovideo.jp ----- Translated Lyrics: As usual, when I wake up today, Next to a canopy bed Warm bagel sandwiches And a call "Good morning, princess" Gorgeously in the morning, I take a soapy bath with a cat-legged bathtub And I've been buried in tons of soap bubbles popping up I woke up at the moment I've dreamed of that story for ten odd years I know It's about a turning point of the complexion Even a prince on a white horse is going to turn back Hurry up and pick me up I want to be a princess It's not that it doesn't suit my character but is something that any girl's thinking Please pick me up, my prince The robe of night fell Under the chandelier of night sky I'd love to feel a night wind at a rococo balcony on my own Even though a pretty dress with ribbons and frills can't be put on without a shirring I have a passion for carbs after all I always can't slim down Still I want to be a princess Bearing up under everyone's cold eyes ...
